A Changing Climate

SMHI plays a central role in the study and monitoring of climate change in Sweden. SMHI collects data, conducts advanced research, and develops services to provide a deeper understanding of how and why the climate is changing.

Climate indicators

SMHI has monitored weather and water for over 100 years, creating a valuable archive of data showing climate change. Climate indicators track trends in mean temperature, sea levels, and snow days over time.

Future climate

Projections based and visualized through various models. What does the climate look like in 2050 according to the best-case scenario?

Acting locally and globally

SMHI, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, is an expert authority for knowledge, research and services - acting nationally and internationally.

Tool: Climate Change Scenario

The Climate Change Scenario provides insights into the climate of the future

The tool presents meteorological, hydrological, and oceanographic data from SMHI. In the Climate Change Scenario tool, you can choose what you want to explore in detail. The different climate scenarios are presented in various formats - maps, diagrams, and downloadable data.

Tool: Climate indicators

Climate indicators visualise climate changes in Sweden

SMHI has monitored weather and water for more than 100 years. This has poised a gold mine of observations which clearly show that the climate is changing. With climate indicators you can follow how for example how mean temperature, sea levels and days with snow varies over time and if there is trend in the evolvement.
