Summary
During the first part of the expedition the weather was dominated by strong winds, reaching storm strength in the Baltic. The second part was dominated by weak to moderate winds. The nutrients showed normal values in the surface water in the whole area. Hydrogen sulphide was detected in the Gotland Deep from 175 m and in the Fårö Deep from 150 m and downwards. No hydrogen sulphid was detected in the Bornholm Basin. At some locations in the Baltic proper and even in the Gulf of Bothnia a bloom of blue-green algae Aphanizomenon sp. was detected.
