Bolin Centre for climate research

The Bolin Centre for climate research is a multi-disciplinary consortium of 350 scientists in Sweden that conducts research and graduate education related to the Earth's climate.

The Bolin Centre focuses on extending and disseminating knowledge about the Earth’s natural climate system, climate variations, climate impacting processes, climate modelling, human impact on the climate and climate impacts on ecosystems, biodiversity and human conditions as well as how society can minimize negative impacts.

The research community constituting today’s Bolin Centre was established in 2006 at Stockholm University and since 2010 its work has been carried out in collaboration with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI).

SMHI has a representative at the Bolin Centre Board. The Board makes decisions related to the governance of the Centre as well as on issues/recommendations from the Directorate, the Science Advisory Group and others.
